Sorority and fraternity presidents share resolutions for new year

As the fraternities and sororities on campus have elected new presidents for 2016, we asked each president for a short summary of the goals they wish to accomplish in this new year.

Shideh Javan, Alpha Sigma Alpha- One of my goals is in serious events, such as the bomb threat … is for our chapter to be equipped to know how to handle them. During the bomb threat, I sent a crisis communication email to our chapter on what to do in case of an emergency. We go over National Emergency Procedures during chapter meetings and I want there to be an emphasis on the importance of campus safety. No matter who you are or how big or small of a university you go to, crisis can happen, and I want Theta Tau to know exactly what to do if disaster strikes.

Samantha Morgan, Pi Phi Epsilon- My biggest goal this semester is to focus on sisterhood and mentorship. I plan on continuing to strengthen our relationship with our alumni and make a big impact on any first years who may join this year. I also strive to promote Greek unity and empower sisters campus-wide to connect and network together.

Emily Sweet, Sigma Alpha Beta- My goals for Sigma Alpha Beta are to foster a sense of family within the organization and to promote unity amongst Greek life as a whole. Additionally, I’d like to bring more focus to our commitment to service, especially our philanthropy, charity: water. With these lofty goals in mind, I’d also like to emphasize the importance of recruiting new, qualified leaders who will both be transformed and transform the family that I’ve grown to love.

Tori Negrau, Phi Sigma Sigma- This year I would like to increase Phi Sigma Sigma’s impact on our community through more service hours as well as raising money for our philanthropy, the Phi Sigma Sigma Foundation. As an organization, we believe that giving back is an amazing way to promote positive image for Greek life here at Capital, which is something that is extremely important to us, as well as FSL as a whole. In addition, we would like to grow our sisterhood through service, strength, and expansion of our chapter.

Danielle Thomas, Delta Phi Epsilon- My goals are for our chapter to represent not only Capital in a positive way, but also Greek life as a whole.

Sawyer Mack, Kappa Sigma- The men of Kappa Sigma are looking to continue to grow our roster with members who share the common values and ideals set in place back in 1869. We hope to also continue to raise funds for our less fortunate veterans through the Military Heroes Campaign and the Fisher House. Locally, we are looking to help out around the community as well as support our fellow Greeks to strengthen Greek unity.

Patrick Shannon, Alpha Sigma Phi- This semester our organization aims to continue to serve our five philanthropies while working to better ourselves and the community around us.

Evan Winters, Phi Kappa Psi- Ohio-Xi is really striving to both maintain and improve excellence with academics as well as by serving the community. As always, the continued strengthening of relationships with the university itself and the community of Bexley are on the forefront of our development as a chapter.

Jalen Mitchell, Phi Mu Alpha- We look to build up our brotherhood by doing more activities that bind and unite us together. Also, [we want] to branch out and connect with other organizations on campus, as well our community, and to move Phi Mu Alpha forward to a place of strength and unity.
