Local thespians produce diverse dramas this October

Evil Dead: The Musical

Based on the cult classics Evil Dead 1, Evil Dead 2 and Army of Darkness, Evil Dead: The Musical is a hilarious stage musical as well as the only musical in the world with a splatter zone. The production is about five college students who go to an abandoned cabin in the woods and unleash an evil force that turns them all into demons. It is then up to Ash, a housewares employee, to save the day with only the aid of his chainsaw. With song names like All The Men In My Life Keep Getting Killed By Candarian Demons and What The F**k Was That, you will find yourself unable to contain your laughter, as well as trying in vain to anticipate what comes next in this chaotic, off-kilter show. The shows begin tonight, October 13th, at the Studio Two Riffe Center and will be running until October 31st.

“Evil Dead: The Musical wants to be the next Rocky Horror Show, and it just may succeed,” – New York Times

Magic of the Night: A Haunted Magic Show

The spirit of Halloween is coming alive on October 21st at the Lincoln Theater. Magician Stephen Knight’s haunting show, Magic of the Night, is a full- stage theatrical show that is the perfect seasonal enter- tainment. Featuring special effects, chilling illusions, extravagant lights and exhilarating pyrotechnics, the production incorporates Halloween themes and tricks. Instead of a typical showgirl getting sawed in half, it might be a zombie or a werewolf instead! No need to fear…there is no blood or gore present in any part of the show. Magic of the Night is undoubtedly suited for all ages…and the slightly squeamish.

Royal Comedy Tour: Sommore and Friends

Looking for a night full of laughs, or just for a reason to get off campus? Well, look no further. On October 15th, the Royal Comedy Tour will be making its way through Columbus and stopping at the Palace Theater. Last year’s Royal Comedy Tour sold out in cities around the country.

The show marks the first time a female come- dian (Sommore, the “Queen of Comedy”) headlines a comedy tour of this size. The tour also includes appear- ances from comedians Bruce Bruce, Tony Rock and Da- mon Williams and is sure to grant a night of entertain- ment for all attendees.

Tyler Perry’s The Haves and The Have Nots

Known for his indescribably funny yet refined plays and movies, Tyler Perry is back and better than ever with his new play The Haves & The Have Nots. This is the story of a wealthy family who have ev- erything that could possibly ever need or want. They busy themselves with the superficial aspects of life, but when their housemaid is forced to ask for their help, they are forced to see how the other half of the popula- tion lives. Filled with witty banter that is delivered by a powerhouse of a cast, this show is not one to miss. See how the story plays out and catch the play at the Palace Theater on October 21st!
