Since Jan. 11, The Center for Health and Wellness has been hosting a T-shirt design contest.
This contest is being done to gain exposure for the center and to raise student awareness to the services that the center provides, including medical, counseling, and disability services for all students.
“The Director of the Center for Health and Wellness, Dr. Cathy McDaniels Wilson, was simply thinking of a way that we could increase the visibility of the Center and the services we offer,” Sherae Satterwhite, office coordinator and medical assistant, said.
“She thought it would be cool to have a logo that represents our office, and what better way to do that than to include the student body.”
The T-shirt design competition is also being done to raise awareness and financial support for mental health, a topic that has been heavily discussed in the past month.
“The Center for Health and Wellness hopes to gain exposure and to also reduce the stigma that is associated with mental health.”
“Anyone will be able to purchase a T-shirt for $5 and half the proceeds will be donated to a non-profit mental health agency in the Columbus area,” Satterwhite said.
The winner of the competition will receive a gift certificate, a $50 cash prize and bragging rights.
This is the first competition the Center has held for designing T-shirts so the winner of this competition will be their first.
“The types of designs we are looking for include ideas that are colorful and creative,” Satterwhite said.
“They must represent the positive aspects of our services (medical, counseling, and disability services); reflect our mission statement, the diverse student body, and again focus on reducing the stigma associated with mental health.”
Entries for this competition are due Thursday, Feb. 14.
