The Great Guinness Toast

by Kristen Shlakman

If you can’t wait for St. Patrick’s Day this year, you’re in luck. This Saturday, Feb. 16, The Great Guinness Toast is happening at Easton Town Center. This event, also known as “St. Practice Day,” is made up of Guinness drinkers across the country trying to break the record for the world’s largest toast drinking Guinness beer.

Since it’s creation in 1993, the event has grown each year, and each year broken its own record.

The concept is simple; raise a glass collectively on the third Friday in February, toasting the famous “black and creamy brew,” in order to try and gain entrance into the founder of Guinness’s other select clubs, the Guinness book of world records.

Bars, pubs, clubs, and even restaurants participate in this famous toast and hand out prizes and raise funds for charity for the famous event. Irish or not, it’s another great reason to drink Guinness and gather with friends.

The event starts at noon on Friday, and whoever can deliver the best Guinness toast will win a free pint a day for an entire year. For more information, go to Easton’s website or visit thegreatguinnesstoast.com.
