On Feb. 22, thousands of dance studios across the country will partner up with health clinics to promote the benefits of dancing as a cardio workout.
The promotion, called Day of Dance, is held during American Heart Month and was established by Congress.
In honor of celebrating 52 years of healthy hearts and pointed toes, here are five dance studios and clubs in the area so you can get your cardio on too.
1. Dublin Dance Centre & Gymnastics
This studio offers a wide variety of adult classes including hip hop, break dance, and ballet. They even offer free ballet classes to males.
2. Studio Rogue
Have you ever wanted to try your hand at pole or exotic dancing? Studio Rogue offers these and a variety of aerial fitness classes. For those who are uncomfortable in large groups, they offer one-on-one lessons and host bachelorette parties.
3. Axis
Axis has been a popular night club for over the past ten years. It is Columbus’ largest night club, featuring a modern patio, cabaret, and drag entertainment. While they are normally open Friday through Sunday, they do offer private parties.
For just $45 for a four-week class (with the first class free!), you can take swing dance lessons! It’s the perfect opportunity to meet new people, discover a new hobby, or just stay in shape.
5. Exile
Exile Bar has been voted the best 21+ gay bar in Columbus. They offer special events and a great patio that showcases their multiple fire pits.
Regardless of your dance preference, staying healthy is important. So do what you love, whether it’s pole dancing, or ballet, or twerking. It’s all great for your heart.
