Maintaining friendships during a pandemic

The duration of the pandemic has certainly caused many friendships to wither away over time.

With social distancing restrictions, it’s clear that some relationships might be slowly fading away.

Without all of the side conversations and physical face-to-face contact with others, a lot of people have become more isolated from their friends.

Although this is an unfortunate side effect of the pandemic, there are certain things that you can do to keep your friendships going strong. After all, a smile goes a long way during these hard times.

Firstly, everyone loves game/movie nights with friends. A night to just sit around, talk, laugh, play games, and/or watch movies.

A lot of different kinds of events have moved to being digital due to COVID-19. So, why not move hangouts with friends online, too?

Instead of meeting in person for movie night with your friends, having a movie night with them on a Zoom call or a FaceTime call can certainly be an option. Although online activities are not necessarily quite the same as in-person ones, they can still be equally as fun and fulfilling.

Online hangouts can be done safely and help to minimize one’s risk of exposure to COVID-19. With that being said, game night doesn’t have to be cancelled for you and your friends!

You can also take it up a notch and move to online multiplayer games, too. These games are certainly more fun when you are playing with people you know. Games like Among Us, Skribbl.io, and others can all be fun to play with friends.

Online game/movie night can be more convenient for you, too, if you have a busy schedule. It’s much quicker to meet online than to meet in person.

Something else you can do to help to maintain your friendships is to consistently communicate with your friends. Make sure you do not lose touch with each other, as this can put a strain on friendships. Reach out now and then and see how they’re doing so that they know you haven’t forgotten about them!

It is crucial to maintain friendships, especially considering the increased amount of alone-time we are all experiencing due to the pandemic. Socializing has seemed to become harder to do with others as well. With that being said, keeping in touch with your pals can definitely help out.

Lastly, self care is essential during these times. Make sure that you are okay, and that you are taking care of yourself to the best of your ability. After all, how well you take care of yourself can impact how you treat others, and it could affect relationships.

At the end of the day, friends are important. More specifically, it is more necessary than ever to have connections with peers. The pandemic has taken a toll on many friendships, but there are many things that you can do to nurture your relationships with friends as the pandemic goes on.
