A Bexley favorite, Giuseppe’s Ritrovo, is one of the best dining experiences you can have. With a menu full of rich, southern Italian cuisine, you are sure to find a dish you love.
According to their website, Giuseppe learned the cooking basics from his mother while growing up in Calabria, Italy. He later became a cruise line chef, allowing him to perfect his art and create the classic Giuseppe recipes the city has come to love.
Giuseppe has been able to create a robust menu of dishes inspired by his roots. The bruschetta and a margherita pizza make the perfect appetizer if you are dining with a large group. The appetizers were perfect for the party of nine I was dining with, and based on the amazing appetizers, I knew the main course would be even better.
For entrées, Giuseppe’s has everything from short ribs and halibut to eggplant parmigiana and asparagus ravioli. I wanted to try them all, but I finally decided on the vongole.
The vongole consisted of fresh clams and spaghetti noodles with the choice of a white or red sauce. I opted for the white sauce, which complemented the clams. The sauce was light and would be the perfect summer dish.
The biggest highlight of visiting Giuseppe’s was the beautiful dessert platter that Giuseppe himself brought out as a special surprise for the group. The platter was full of cannolis and tiramisu for our whole party. Giuseppe even added a candle for the birthday we were celebrating, while singing Happy Birthday in Italian.
This intimate experience proved how perfect Giuseppe’s is for any occasion. Whether you’re dining in the main dining room or in the private room, you are sure to have a delightful time.
Personally, I know I will be back for a special occasion or any excuse I can find to have the vongole one more time!
