A Valentine’s Day Playlist: Made with love by the Chimes staff

February is a month of love, with heart shaped items, candy and bouquets of flowers adorning store shelves. There is no better way to celebrate all the love than by a playlist full of love songs hand-picked by The Chimes staff. The songs on this list, as well as many others, can be heard here

  1. “Valentine” by COIN

“You ever love something so much it hurts?” Yes, this song. Honestly, COIN has a lot of great love songs like “Heart Eyes” and “Youuu” but how could a song with the title “Valentine” not be a top-pick for a Valentine’s Day playlist?

  1. “Lover” by Taylor Swift

A cliche song, of course, but “Lover” is always a beautiful addition to a playlist about love. If you left your Christmas lights up ‘til January, this is the song for you.

  1. “Forever” by The Beach Boys

This is a beautiful song that is sure to make your heart grow three sizes. If only they would release the Jessie and The Rippers cover from “Full House.”

  1. “Like Real People Do” by Hozier

Hozier tends to have a way with words in his many romantic ballads, but the underlying meaning of feeling yourself come back to life because of loving someone/someone loving you gives this song a place on our list.

  1. “Silly Love Songs” by Wings

This is a silly little love song for a silly little holiday. It will definitely have you wiggling your finger and tapping your foot.

  1. “I’m Yours” by Jason Mraz

This simple song is always a crowd-pleaser. Once upon a time this was nominated for Song of the Year at the Grammys and it’s no wonder why.

  1. “Boys Boys Boys” by Lady Gaga

Single? Need something a little bit more upbeat? Boys Boys Boys is sure to make you want to dance around, and maybe even text the guy in your class you’ve been eyeing.

  1. “Lovebug” by The Jonas Brothers

If you’re down with the lovebug, here’s a song with healing properties. Since The Jonas Brothers are getting attention once again after a hiatus, we had to include an OG track.

  1. “Every Breath You Take” by The Police

“Oh, can’t you see?” While the song is slightly creepy and could be taken the wrong way, it demonstrates pure adoration for a person and the feeling of unrequited love.

  1. “About You” by The 1975

This is for those people out there who are feeling a little nostalgic this year. If you have ever felt like you have already met the love of your life but they slipped through your fingers, this song is all about reminiscing about a person and wanting to find your way back to them.

  1. “Heaven” by Niall Horan

This song is all about letting go of expectations and letting a relationship go where it’s supposed to and just being in the moment. “God only knows where this could go.”

  1. “Always Been You” by Shawn Mendes

The quiet vocals of Mendes’s voice paired with the intense orchestral breaks in the song illustrate the feeling of falling in love and knowing you are with “the one.” When you know you know, and sometimes it hits you like a ton of bricks.

Happy Valentine’s Day, from TheChimes staff to you.
