Five in a row for men’s lacrosse, women break even
Wednesday March 13 was a good day for Crusader lacrosse, seeing both teams win against Wittenberg University. The women defended Bernlohr Stadium against the Tigers and won 13-11 while the men returned from Springfield with a 14-13 victory. The men are keeping their win streak alive at 5-1 while the women are back at .500 with a 3-3 record. The women will travel to Kentucky to take on Centre College while the men look toward a home competition against Transylvania University. Both games will happen on March 16.
Baseball drops double header
Capital baseball returned from Oberlin empty-handed in their most recent contest, losing to Oberlin College by a score of 8-7 in both March 9 games. Even though they lost both games, the Crusaders were still able to put up some runs, most noticeably through Shane Lyons’ grand slam in the second of the two games. Baseball will next play on March 15 when they travel to Granville to take on the Big Red of Denison University.
Softball loses close tournament game
March 1 saw the end of Capital softball’s Florida trip, as well as a close loss to Neumann University from Aston, Pennsylvania. The 11-10 defeat was not without highlights, including shortstop Cory Mangen’s solo homer early in the game and two scoreless innings pitched from Brianna Reardon. Softball will be back in action on March 15 when they play a double header against Hanover College.
