Students create website that grades, tours universities
They might crash your party, they might crash your dad’s car, but one thing is for sure when seniors Chip Fisher and Frank Perri are around: your campus can be considered crashed.
Fisher and Perri, who are been long-time friends at Capital sat down with me earlier in the week to discuss the foundation of their newest website, Campus Crasher. Campus Crasher is a website that “helps people make the right college decision,” Fisher said. He would continue to say that the two are doing their best to ensure the information that they present on their website is helpful, factual and accurate.
The site is a simple concept: Fisher and Perri go to a college campus and take the college tour. They mingle with students. They interview a handful of students about the academic and social life of the university. Finally, the duo devour the campus and local food finding out which place has the best grub.
Oh, and did I mention they catch it all on tape?
After editing everything together and pitching a few tweets from their Twitter account, Campus Crasher releases a video of their journey.
“We film the campus tour and interviews that we do and then edit it all together and put some music behind it,” Perri said of his job responsibilities. Both would also note that they are putting in a lot of hard, tedious work.
“We’re finding out that this is a lot harder than we though it would be. But it’s awesome. It’s like a full time job, but I enjoy it,” Fisher said.
The two gentlemen, who plan on traveling to colleges such has Xavier and Kent State University, work well together, which was apparent even in our hour-long interview.
They also have big plans for the future.
Although they were quick to note that they aren’t necessarily reaping any benefits from the website at the moment, they are quickly growing in followship and readership.
They encourage students of all ages and backgrounds to check out their website, noting that it’s truly helpful in making the right choice if you’re looking for correct school for you.
