Inter-sorority powderpuff competition brings unity

Football is a dangerous sport, requiring the utmost in strength, agility, and an iron will that can strike fear into the hearts of your enemy. This display of manly ruggedness is no better shown than in the upcoming inter-sorority powderpuff football game.

Four teams, comprising of women from Pi Phi Epsilon, Delta Phi Epsilon, Sigma Alpha Beta, Phi Sigma Sigma, and Alpha Sigma Alpha will vie for the powderpuff title April 26. The first round will be held on the practice soccer field at 6:15, with the championship game being played on Schaaf Lawn. An all-Greek cookout will follow the event.

Inter-Sorority Council (ISC) President Michelle Hardgrove is excited for the event. “The whole premise of the game stemmed from the idea we wanted to do something different for all of our sororities to encourage co-mingling,” Hardgrove said.

The idea originally came from Taylor Clark, the Director of Community Relations for the ISC. “After our first attempt last fall, we realized it could be a much larger event, so that led us to our spring game. We have about 30-40 women participating in the games this time,” Hardgrove said.

The four teams will have the team colors of white, pink, orange, and black. As to who will win, Hardgrove has a good idea. “I believe I am coaching the orange team, so basically the other teams don’t stand a chance,” Hardgrove said.

The men shouldn’t feel left out of this event as men from various fraternities will be serving as cheerleaders for all the games.
