Blackmore searches for next Director of Library and Information Resources

by Diana Crandall

Blackmore Library has had several visitors this week as they wrap up the search for a new Director of Library and Information Resources.
A designated committee has been searching for an individual to take on the job, which includes directing the administration, planning, program & policy development, as well as the budget and resource allocation for the library and the Information Commons.
“The search committee has been working together since last November to prepare for this position,” Tina Valerius, web reference librarian and search committee co-chair, said. “We have reviewed resumes, conducted phone interviews, and have now narrowed the pool to four candidates who we believe have the potential to provide leadership and vision to Blackmore Library.”
With the semester drawing to a close, the university invited eligible candidates to present in Blackmore Library the week of April 15-19.
Candidates have been asked to prepare a presentation that encompasses their perspective on what the future of academic libraries could be. They were also asked to describe their abilities, skills, and what they would bring to Capital University as the Director of Library and Information Resources.
Although the first two days of presentations are already over, there is still time to attend two forums that will take place in Blackmore 110: one on Thursday, April 18 at 3:30 p.m. and one at 10 a.m. Friday, April 19. Students and faculty are invited to attend.
“We are all very excited about the candidates that are coming to campus,” Anna Biszaha, graduate research librarian, said. “We hope that students will attend these forums as an important way to have their voices heard.”
Light refreshments will be served, and a Q-and-A session will be offered at the close of each presentation.
