Relay for Life and Greek Week raise charitable donations, increase student activity before spring semester decline

Greek organizations came together this week to raise money for The American Cancer Society and to increase on-campus involvement of students.

Saturday March 29, Greek and other university organizations participated in Relay for Life, a 24-hour walk in the Capital Center’s indoor track. Each organization had a booth and specific fundraiser used to raise money for cancer research.

Several students wore costumes during the day, while others ran or walked laps for the entire duration of the event.

The following week, known as Greek Week, is an annual succession of events that allow organizations to compete against one another. At the end of the week, points are totalled and winning teams are announced. Many of the events pair fraternities and sororities to compete as teams — a move to increase Greek unity on campus.
