I’ve spent a lot of my free time time playing low-stakes, lighthearted video games like Luigi’s Mansion 3, Minecraft, and Katamari Damacy: ReRoll, binging shows like my favorite, Cowboy Bebop, and also Catflsh, and watching Studio Ghibli films in attempt to keep my entertainment intake (mostly) innocent and wholesome.

I’ve been finding a lot of time to catch up with friends and have been playing a lot of video games. My favorite has absolutely been Minecraft (inspired by the Hermitcraft series on YouTube). Also, I started Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2: Campaign Remastered and downloaded Control to give it a try next. Besides that, the TV shows Dave (Hulu) and Tiger King (Netflix) have been binged.

My time in self-isolation has been spent reconnecting with some of my favorite pastimes: TV shows, video games, and playing the guitar. I’m on my third (maybe fourth) round of watching New Girl, my favorite TV show ever, and I binge-watched Tiger King in a day and a half. I’ve also found a love of playing Sims 4 and Minecraft, and I’ve almost mastered the second guitar solo in ‘One’ by Metallica–something I’ve been working on since middle school.

Being in quarantine has bummed me out just as it has everyone. I work as a waiter at the Market District across from Cap. They switched my position up so I’m still working which I am very thankful for. Between balancing online learning, work and our work here at the Chimes, I’ve still had more extra time on my hands than usual. In that free time I’ve been doing lots of reading, playing my instruments and chatting with friends. Everyone should find something to do, it helps the time pass!

My quarantine has somehow been both incredibly boring and very busy. Like most people, I pretty much spend all my time in my house or my backyard, so I’ve tried to find ways to distract myself at home. I adopted a kitten right before everything got crazy, and getting her used to my family and our routines has taken a while, especially since everyone’s routines now look pretty different and are subject to change at any time. I finally pulled the trigger on dying my hair rose gold. I’ve been baking a lot, trying new recipes for my favorite desserts. School work has kept me too busy to get much personal reading done, but I have a great book list for summer now!

My social distance quarantine has been both radically productive and wildly sluggish. I have rewatched The Haunting of Hill House (Netflix) as well as read and finished the book it was based on, I have binge watched Bob’s Burgers, It’s Always Sunny In Philadelphia, The Good Place, Santa Clarita Diet (Netflix), and also The Office. I’ve dyed my hair back to its natural color, I have done yoga, and I have run miles. More impressively, I pulled out and replaced the faucet in my kitchen sink and I pulled out and got rid of my washer and dryer, (which will be replaced soon). My family is looking to adopt a dog, and my little brothers are trying to do elementary school online. There is no routine in my house, but in my opinion, there is no routine to a personal quarantine.

I’ve spent my quarantine time reporting on the latest events, watching movies and TV, and playing video games. I’ve been watching Supernatural for the past four months now, and I’ve just started season 9. I’ve also started watching Boardwalk Empire on Amazon Prime, which is my current addiction. In terms of video games, I’ve been playing a classic stealth game from my childhood called Thief II: The Metal Age, along with Yakuza 2 Kiwami.

I’m having a hard time being productive when there are shows like Tiger King out there to distract me from the school work I still have to get through. I’ve gotten to spend a lot more time with my parents which has really been great (most of the time). I show my mom multiple dogs a week that I think we should adopt, especially since we would have so much time to train it. I’ve also gotten really into doing jigsaw puzzles as well, which are actually hard to find since so many people must be buying them to get through the quarantine.
