Expected events for the end of the semester

The end of the 2023-2024 school year is almost over, and some students may find the conclusion of the academic year to be bittersweet. While the end means finals are coming up, it also means…the end. Before summer arrives, the university has several end-of-the-year activities for students to participate in.

For those graduating…

Senior Soirée

The 2024 Senior Soirée will take place May 7 from 8:00-11:00 p.m. Hosted by Student Government, the Senior Soirée is a kick off Senior Week. The event will be located in the Convergent Media Center where food, drinks, live music, karaoke and raffle baskets will be available.

Senior Spaghetti Dinner

The university’s Alumni Engagement and Office of Student and Community Engagement are hosting the spaghetti dinner for seniors. The meal will be served by the Alumni Advisory Board and university faculty and staff. Along with the dinner will be a raffle and wine service. The event will occur in the Main Dining Room (MDR) from 5:00-7:00 p.m. May 9.

Cap Decorating

Hosted by the Office of Student and Community Engagement, graduating students have the opportunity to decorate their graduation caps in the Student Union lobby May 9 at 11:00 p.m. through May 10 at 2:00 p.m.

For everyone…

ReCap Launch Party

ReCap has been working all year on their 2024 issue; with the end of the year approaching, it is finally time for the magazine to be released. Join the ReCap team in the Convergent Media Center (Room 141) April 29 to celebrate the launch of the issue, especially the works of graduating seniors. The launch party will be from 7:00-8:00 p.m.

Exam Treats

Activities Management and Programming (AMP) has already hosted Exam Treats multiple times this year, so get ready for another round. Come to the MDR for some trivia, special treats and a raffle. This event will take place May 1 from 9:00-11:00 p.m.

Jam and Exam

When preparing for exams, it is vital to take breaks during study time to avoid burnout. One possible way to spend a break is to hear some live music. The university’s Jazz Outreach Society is hosting “Jam and Exam” May 3 from 10:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. Attendees can either listen to the music or take advantage of the opportunity to participate. Whether musically trained or not, the Jazz Outreach Society welcomes all to join a jazz jam session.

Grad Fest

This event will be a time to celebrate everything seniors. Games, food, music and prizes will be available. Join the Office of Student and Community Engagement at the fountains May 8 from 3:00-5:00 p.m. to celebrate the 2024 graduates.
