The Chimes plucks the ‘bein

Across three conferences, two national and one state, the Chimes won two times more awards than Otterbein University’s T&C Media this academic year.

The Chimes has won twice as many awards than T&C media in the 2024-2025 academic year.

In the Fall College Media Association (CMA) conference in New Orleans, the Chimes and Otterbein’s T&C Media competed in Division III. The Chimes placed in six categories.

First place in Best General News Story was won by Adrian Suppes, while Otterbein’s T&C Media did not place. 

First place in Best Headline was won by Charlie Rinehart, while Otterbein’s T&C Media did not place.

Second place in Best Website Front Page was won by Tatiana Sullivan, while Otterbein’s T&C Media did not place.

Third place in Best Breaking News was won by Samaree Perkins, while Otterbein’s T&C Media did not place.

Third place in Best Profile was won by Megan Mitchell, while Otterbein’s T&C Media did not place.

Chimes staff received an honorable mention for Best Periodic Newspaper, while Otterbein’s T&C Media received no mention.

At the Fall CMA conference, T&C Media received second place for Best Infographic and Best Investigative Story, third place for General News Email Newsletter and Best Feature Story and an honorable mention for Best Column.

At the Spring CMA Conference in New York, the Chimes and Otterbein’s T&C Media competed in Division III. The Chimes placed in three awards.

First place in Crisis Coverage was won by Adrian Suppes and Samaree Perkins, while Otterbein’s T&C Media did not place.

First place for Best News Website was won by Tatiana Sullivan, while Otterbein’s T&C Media did not place.

Honorable Mention for Best Column was won by Clayton Hines, while Otterbein’s T&C Media  received no mention.

In the same conference, T&C Media received no awards.

At the Ohio News Media Association (ONMA) Conference, the Chimes placed in three categories.

First place in Best Multimedia Package was won by Adrian Suppes and Charlie Rinehart, while Otterbein’s T&C Media did not place.

Second place for Best Website by Tatiana Sullivan, while Otterbein’s T&C Media placed first.

Third place for Design was won by The Chimes staff, while Otterbein’s T&C Media did not place.

T&C Media’s first place in Website was their only award at ONMA.

The Chimes won a total of 12 awards this academic year in comparison to T&C Media’s six, exactly half the number of awards.
