Repeat offender charged, arrested for groping on campus

Around 4:30 p.m. on Friday, Lonnie Sturdivant, a registered sex offender and “serial groper,” was arrested by Columbus Police.

On Thursday night at approximately 8:30 p.m., Sturdivant inappropriately touched a Capital University student in Blackmore Library. He perpetrated a similar incident on Capital’s campus in 2011.

Sturdivant committed similar acts early Friday morning near The Ohio State University’s campus as well. Two women said they were grabbed and sexually assaulted by him.

Sturdivant was also reported at Otterbein University Thursday night, though no one reported being touched. Currently, he is banned from all three campuses.

Additionally, Sturdivant has been banned from Columbus State Community College and from Central Ohio Transit Authority buses due to past incidents.

He was recently released from prison after serving less than a year for similar behavior. Since 2011, Sturdivant has had over 10 convictions for misdemeanor sexual imposition.

A court date has not been set for the current charges.
