Fall Sports Update

Men’s Soccer:

The men’s soccer team has had an up and down season thus far. After beginning with a promising 5-3 non-conference record, the team went into OAC play with some momen- tum. That momentum quickly dissipated as the squad opened their conference schedule with a 0-3-1 record in the division, a stretch that has seen the squad fail to score a goal.

Women’s Soccer:

In the exact opposite fashion of the men’s team, the women’s soccer team had a slow start of the season, only to rebound to an im- pressive 3-1 beginning to their OAC sched- ule. After an early five game losing streak, the team has had a 4-2-1 stretch, including three OAC victories, earning them a tie for second in the conference.

Men’s Golf:

After a solid but average beginning to the season (with finishes of 6th and 3rd), the men’s golf team highlighted their season with a victory at the five-team Kenyon Fall Invitational. The team was unable to carry that momentum into the season finale at the Wittenberg Fall Invitational, where they fin- ished a respectable 15th.

The only way to describe the women’s golf team’s season is by calling it steady. With fin- ishes of 3rd, 3rd, 4th and 4th, the team will surely be happy with its consistency, and de- spite a lack of victories, they never finished in the bottom half of a competition.

Cross Country:

Both the men and women’s cross country teams have started the season strong. As with every cross country meet, the individ- ual runners have finishes ranging from top- ten to the two hundreds. The teams have de- cent finishes, but the highlight of the season has been Junior Emma McCarron. McCarron has not only been consistently the highest- placing runner on either team, but has quali- fied for the Division III Championships in November.

Volleyball:

After a blazing 11-3 start to the season, in- cluding an eight game win streak, the vol- leyball team has cooled down a bit to start their OAC schedule. The month of October has reignited the squad, and they have three victories in four matches. After losing their first three games in conference play, the team rebounded with a victory over Wilmington, bringing their OAC record to 1-3.
