Another Homecoming has come and gone, and while some students may be recuperating, many can agree that the weekend was a demonstration of Capital at it’s finest.
Events lasted through the week, but Friday night there was a special performance held by the numerous different vocal ensembles in the conservatory including the women’s chorus, the Chordsmen, Chapel Choir, and Philomel, all of whom performed in front of one of Capital’s largest homecoming concert audiences in recent years.
On Saturday the skies remained clear and conditions made for one of the most beautiful homecoming weekends. Capfest was in full swing leading up to the start of the game as alumni and undergraduates mixed and mingled amidst music, laughter, and booths run by numerous different student organizations.
President Bowman dedicated newly laid bricks at the fountains at noon and then it was off to the Volleyball game, which was followed closely in the same building by the Capital football game.
Unfortunately, both the volleyball team and the football team lost their games, volleyball losing to Ohio Northern 3-0, and football also losing to Ohio Northern with a score of 38-24.
Despite these hard losses, students were thrilled to crown their 2013 homecoming royalty, Zac Brown and Madison Mikhail. Spirits were still high as festivities continued all day with alumni reunions and other festivities. Saturday night Capital students headed over to Eastland Lanes for a night of fun bowling with friends.
The following morning there a Homecoming service held at Christ Lutheran Church across from Battelle Hall, where the Chordsmen performed and President Bowman read scripture and helped distribute communion.
Thus rounded out one of the most successful and enjoyable homecomings Capital has seen thus far, making students more anxious for the fun next year has to offer.
