Wednesday, Nov. 16, experts on renewable energy will visit Capital to discuss renewable energy sources.
Wednesday’s discussion spon- sored by Capital’s Xi Tau Chapter of the national Beta Beta Beta Biological Hon- ors Fraternity, will concern “the com- plex set of issues that would stem from a transition to renewable energy sources,” according to Xi Tau chapter president David Pickering.
Pickering, a senior environmental science major, says that the panel of experts will center their discussion on questions that concern the feasibility of a transition to renewable energy.
The panel will discuss outcomes and effects of doing so, and the positive and negative consequences.
Panel members were selected based on their unique qualifications, and each bring a specialty to the discussion.
Dr. Suzanne Marilley, associate professor of political science, was chosen for her experience and knowledge of the political system and public policy as well as interest in environmental issues.
Dr. Terry Lahm, associate provost and associate vice president for academic and student affairs, was chosen for his knowledge of environmental impacts and issues.
Dr. Ali Ülkü, assistant professor of management, was chosen for his interest in sustainable business ethics.
Perry Straughter, assistant director of facilities management, was chosen for his experience as an energy manager and control specialist.
The discussion will take place at 7:30 p.m. in the Bridge of Learning.
