C.U.R.E hosts annual Halloween Costume Party

by Jordan Houser

Capital University Rock Ensemble (C.U.R.E) performed their annual Halloween concert before a group of costumed students Tuesday evening.

The event, advertised as the “Annual C.U.R.E Costume Party” took place in Mees Hall, beginning at 8 p.m.

Current members of C.U.R.E include Stephen Spottswood, Melissa Neff, Steve Jacobs, Adam Walton, Hannah Dreher, Kory Hunter, Jordan Millisor, Alex Ward, David Butler, Matthesein Nisch-Quan, Chris Jamison, Marnee Richardson, Tori Butash, Dominique De Biasio, Nathan Drury, Joey Pasternak and Kelly Levstek.

No admission was charged for the event. However, all students in attendance were required to wear costumes.

“Well, ss always, we had a great time performing for a great audience,” Tori Butash, second year vocalist, said.

As with any musical performance, much time is spent on rehearsal and preparation prior to an event such as this. For C.U.R.E, the amount of effort came though when they stepped on stage.

“We all thought that we could have had a little more energy behind the music, but it still turned out to be a musically good show.”

Typically, these Halloween shows occur on the weekend surrounding the holiday. Due to scheduling conflict, however, this year the show had to be moved to mid-week.

According to C.U.R.E. members, this had no negative effect on the performance or attendance.

“There was a large turn out, and the audience was fun and interactive, especially for our last song, ‘Time Warp’ from The Rocky Horror Picture Show” Butash, said.

C.U.R.E also performed popular songs “Make It Mine” by Jason Mraz, “Paris” by Grace Potter & the Nocturnals, “Hips Don’t Lie” by Shakira, and “Renegade” by Styx.
