CRU BREW
Location: Saylor-Ackerman
Review:
Located on campus, the Cru Brew operates in the lobby of the Saylor-Ackerman residence hall, opening early in the day to provide students with their morning pick-me-up.
Students stop in before their classes and have the option to use flex-dollars to quickly purchase their drinks. As a Resident Assistant in Saylor-Ackerman, junior Justin See made a stop at the Cru Brew part of his morning routine.
“I like that it is conveniently located on campus and has a variety of options,” said See. “I don’t feel like I’m getting the same thing over and over again.”
Many students find the Cru Brew to be the easiest option to resort to for their coffee needs. The coffee is comparable to that of Starbucks for an equal price, so a trip down the road is unnecessary for those who aren’t bothered by buying off-brand drinks.
While there are many positives to the Cru Brew, a few aspects of operation that could be improved to make students happier.
“I dislike that it has weird operating hours and isn’t always available to students,” said See.
If you are able to make it to the Cru Brew during its hours of operation, it is sure to provide quality coffee, food and various other treats for prices that are affordable for the average college student.

Many students walk or drive past is every day, yet Cup O’ Joe remains a hidden treasure in the jungle that is Bexley. With its warm, welcoming atmosphere and relatively cheap drinks and treats, it is definitely a place for the students looking for a small getaway from campus.
“I really enjoy the home-like feeling you get when you walk in,” said freshman Courtney Bope. “It makes you feel comfortable and relaxed. I like to go there to study on occasion because I feel I can focus better.”
Entering the shop, the smell of coffee and the warmth of the room welcomes the visitor, enticing them to try one of their many signature drinks that include various unique flavor options.
“I decided to go out on a limb and try the Milky Way drink. It was delicious!” said Bope.
Along with the Milky Way, they offer flavors such as Almond Joy, Razzmatazz, Mounds Bar, Mint Oreo Cookie and Buckeye. But don’t worry, Cup O’ Joe still caters to those with more traditional tastes for regular espressos and black coffee.

Being a national name helps Starbucks attract its customers, but its high quality products are what keep them coming back. Located in the heart of Bexley, it is difficult to miss the big green logo hung proudly on the building.
Constructed inside a former bank, the building has an authentic feel with the giant vault door remaining in use. The counter is constantly busy as businesspeople and students alike stop by for their daily coffee.
While producing quality drinks, Starbucks is also taking steps to better the environment.
“I like the fact that they’ve been trying to help the environment by recycling more and taking the steps to be more energy efficient,” explains freshman Quinten Cowell.
Starbucks is known for their high-quality brews and delicious treats, but also for their high prices. Some believe that there is too much hype surrounding their coffee.
“They try too hard to be your typical ‘coffee shop’. There are plenty of other places with just as good if not better coffee,” said Cowell.
If you want to know what all the hype is about, head down E. Main St to Starbucks. They now carry seasonal flavors like the Peppermint Mocha and the Gingerbread Latte.

Review:
When most people think of Cosi, they don’t usually think of it as a place to go for a coffee break. The restaurant has proven to be a success in the Bexley community for its wide variety of cafe-style meals and drink options.
“I like Cosi because the inside is just so relaxed, whenever I eat there I feel like I can calm down and do anything I need to get done,” said senior Kristen Foss.
While many do go to Cosi for the food and the opportunity to have a nice, yet relaxing meal, some venture to the restaurant for a place to read or hang out. “It’s just a very warming environment with good lighting. Definitely someplace I would want to go to have a good conversation with a friend,” said Foss.
The laid-back atmosphere of Cosi is only complemented by the assortment of drinks choices. The menu includes choices such as smoothies and hot chocolates, as well frozen and hot coffees. Whether it’s an espresso or Cosi’s signature blend coffee, customers leave happy and satisfied with their decision.
If you’re looking for grade A coffee, or for a good place to go out to eat, Cosi is a nearby, affordable choice.
