During the month of November, people of all genders support a movement known as Movember. Starting in Melbourne, Australia, this movement had millions of supporters worldwide.
This year, Sigma Alpha Beta brought Movember to campus, led by member Zac Boyer.
“Movember is a month long event to raise awareness and funds for the often ignored issue of men’s health,” Boyer said.
“Guys who participate, aka Mo Bros, grow a gentleman’s mustache, which acts as a conversation starter both in a public setting, and more importantly a private setting, where guys can encourage each other to stay healthy and aware of issues like testicular and prostate cancer testing and prevention.”
In addition to the men growing mustaches, women can also support the movement.
“Ladies who help out with Movember, aka Mo Sistas, may not be able to grow their own Mo, but [participate] through supporting and educating the men in their lives,” Boyer said.
If you want to know more about the movement, there’s still time! SAB will be hosting their last Movember event from 5 – 6 p.m. Nov. 30 in the Mezz.
They will be crowning Mr. Movember based on who has grown the best mustache, and a Miss Movember with the best faux mustache.
