New washers and dryers in residence halls are up and running

All of the residence halls now have new washers and dryers, thanks to a proposal brought forth by Student Government in September of 2016.

The machines were installed over Christmas break by CSC ServiceWorks, a company that specializes in laundry services, air compressors, pressure washers, and much more.

The washers and dryers, while also being new and fully functional, come equipped with a mobile site that allows students to do things like track the status of their laundry or see if there are machines available in their residence hall.

Before students returned from break, resident assistants underwent an hour-long training session with Capital’s campus rep from CSC, Terry Heiland, who demonstrated how to use the mobile program and do laundry with the new machines. RAs should have met with all residents by Friday of last week to pass the information along.

“The machines are about the same [as the old ones] with the added convenience of the [mobile site],” Abby Wosinski, junior political science major and senior resident assistant for Schaaf Hall, said.

Students can visit m.laundryview.com/cu for access to a mobile view of the CSC website. From there, it is possible to track the load of laundry currently being done, see availability in your building, and even submit a work order directly to the company.

CSC left paraphernalia such as t-shirts and laundry supplies for students to win as a thank you for leaving feedback about the new machines and mobile site, as they are still unfamiliar to some. All students should receive an email from the Office of Residential and Commuter Life with details about how to leave feedback within the next few days.

“Honestly, free laundry is fantastic,” Wosinski said. “The fact that [Capital] provides that service to students [is great], and now that it’s even better, it’s super convenient.”
