Faces of the Fountains: Briana Shervinskie

“Do you have a quote that you live by?”

“It’s from the movie called ‘Fire it Up,’ they say, ‘You gotta risk it to get the biscuit,’ which is ridiculous, but I say it all the time.”

Coffee cup in hand, Briana Shervinskie is a sophomore double major in public relations and organizational communication with a marketing minor. Briana is a warm, bubbly person with a passion for all things coffee, theater, or book related.

Her favorite musical to perform is “Legally Blonde” (which she has been in twice), and this semester she auditioned for a production of “Bring it On” at OSU.

What’s Briana’s favorite book?

“The Unbecoming of Mara Dyer” by Michelle Hodkin.

“It’s funky. She’s got like super powers, and she’s an anti-heroine, but it’s a fun book,” Briana said.

Ending up at Capital was a happy accident for Briana, a Pennsylvania native. She is the youngest of five and found Capital University through College Board.

Briana was drawn to public relations because of her love of talking, but also because it gives her a variety of career options. When asked about what her dream job would be, Briana shared that she would love to own a little, eclectic coffee shop. She loves the idea of having a relaxed work environment, and of course being surrounded by coffee at all times.

What is Briana’s coffee order?

“A black iced coffee from Starbucks.”

What is her weakness?

“Not getting enough sleep and being too close to coffee with Capital Grounds and [two Starbucks’] within walking distance of campus.”

Of course there are sleep aids that can help with not getting enough sleep, but as Briana puts it, “Coffee is easier to remember.”

Being from Pennsylvania, Briana is well accustomed to the world of roller coasters. Her hometown is only an hour away from Hershey Park, and she is a self proclaimed adrenaline junkie. Since being in Ohio, Briana has been able to cross Cedar Point off her theme park list, and she hopes to one day travel to theme parks across the world, especially in Taiwan. Briana also hopes to skydive and would love to travel to Europe.

If Briana could travel anywhere in the world, where would it be?

“The Parthenon in Greece, [because] I love Greek mythology.”

Finally, what’s adding value to her life?

“My friends!”  (Especially her roommate, Allison Huss)
