Breaking: University announces death of Shelley Miller

Capital University has announced the death of Associate Director of Marketing, Shelley Miller. She was 53.

A memorial service will be held at 4 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 22, outside of the Moundbuilders Country Club in Newark, Ohio. A campus celebration of her life will be held at 5 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 27, at Trinity Lutheran Seminary. Both services are open to the public.

Miller was a proud colon cancer survivor, and recently celebrated the fifth anniversary of her diagnosis. She was a biker and often raised funds for Pelotonia. 

Miller was hired by the University in 2010 and she earned her MBA from Capital while undergoing treatment for her cancer.

Before working for the University, she was the Director of Operations and Development at the Columbus Montessori Education Center. She also served as the Director of Communications at the Columbus School for Girls.

She is survived by three children, Noah, Dominic, and Cierra.
