Winter fashion 2021: best looks this season

As winter time approaches, many retire their fashionable summer and fall outfits just in time to break out the sweatpants, hoodies and other winter fashion items.

This winter you will not have to sacrifice fashion for comfort, as there are many upcoming trends that will keep you warm and stylish.

When looking for the most recent trends, shops like Zara, Urban Outfitters, Lulu’s, ASOS, or Nordstrom might be a good place to start.

For more affordable clothing, Rag-O-Rama, located in Columbus, has lots of trendy, gently-used clothes. There are also many other thrift stores in and around Columbus such as Ohio Thrift Store, Goodwill, and Plato’s Closet.

Winter Coats and Jackets

One of the most popular trends that will be thriving this winter is puffer jackets. The outerwear keeps you warm and is something you can throw over your outfit daily. The most common colors for puffer jackets appear to be neutrals such as shades of white, brown, or black, making them easily matchable to any outfit.

Plaid is always an important staple to your winter wardrobe. Plaid “shackets”, a cross between a shirt and a jacket, have become especially popular this year. These are another great outerwear option. Additionally, anything red plaid will always be a classic winter look.

The final winter coat trend is faux fur coats. These are a perfect investment for winter; they are bold, stylish, and guaranteed to keep you warm and cozy. Coats are not the only faux fur trend; faux fur handbags can make a cute addition to your wardrobe as well.

Matching Sets

Matching sweater sets are a fashionable choice for this winter. Matching sweater sets can consist of a knitted tank top and matching cardigan, or even have matching knitted pants as well. Sweaters with a matching skirt are also a popular option for a warmer day or a holiday party.

Speaking of matching, monochrome outfits have been rising in popularity this year. Monochrome outfits consist of clothing items that are all one color, sometimes multiple shades of the same color. Pink and brown tend to be recurring choices, but any color can work.

Monochrome outfits are not the only color related trend this year; anything bright or neon is expected to be popular this winter as well.

Miscellaneous

While sequins may seem like a trend of the past, they are coming back this winter in the best way. Dresses covered in shiny sequins are making a comeback and are perfect for holiday parties or New Years Eve. Sequin skirts, pants, and jackets are an option as well.

On top of all these items, it is important to remember essential winter accessories. Gloves, knitted hats, scarves, and/or earmuffs never go out of style and can make an important addition to your outfit on a cold Ohio day.
