‘Hot Chocolate 5k’ supports Ronald McDonald House

by Aaron Butts

This past weekend a number of Capital students gathered in the cold to participate in a local 5k tradition: the annual “Hot Chocolate 5k” put on by the Ronald McDonald House Charities. Once again it was a huge success with quite a large turnout.

“There was probably over 15,000 people there including the runners, spectators, and volunteers,” Jesse Heck, senior, said.

Heck, along with other women in Alpha Sigma Alpha, went as a group to participate in the charity 5k.

“We ran through downtown and afterward you get hot chocolate and fondue and what-not,” Megan Kaunert, senior, said.

Members of Sigma Alpha Beta also participated by handing out hot chocolate to the runners.

The event ran smoothly and was a huge success for the Ronald McDonald House.

“We were super nervous because there was a 70% chance of thunderstorms,” Heck said, “but the rain held off until we were finished. It was super fun!”
