Fourteen concerts in 14 days sounds like a grueling and ear-piercing two weeks, but Jenna Garza took on the challenge.
Preparing to graduate in the spring, Garza studies music technology and electronic media & film. Garza, had uncertainty of what to do for her senior project, but with some help brainstorming she decided to combine two of her favorite things: photography and music. In the 14 days, Garza attended concerts ranging from Shania Twain to Waka Flocka Flame. She wanted to get artists that are up and coming to attract interest to viewers.
“The most difficult thing about shooting at a show is that everything is spontaneous and nothing is really planned,” Garza said.
With mosh pits and bad lighting in small venues, Garza said it was challenging to get the right shot.
“I hope people will get a good idea of what happens in Columbus,” Garza said. “Columbus isn’t as big as it should be for its music venues. There’s always something going on every night. I think that was pretty obvious when I went to booked shows that I was shooting. I don’t think people realize that a lot.”
Garza’s concert posts include incredible in-the-moment photos and a description of the experience to help the reader feel like they are really there. Other information, such as the venue and future tour dates, are included on the posts on her blog http://imjennagarza.weebly.com/.
