For the last year, there has not been one person dedicated solely to the Greek life, leadership development, and student organizations.
David Gonzalez, the previous director of these crucial campus organizations and groups, left Capital last year.
“David left Capital to take a similar position focused on Greek Life at New York University,” Deanna Wagner, Director of Student and Community Engagement, said.
Since Gonzalez’s leave, there have been many changes in the SCE office to adjust to the absence.
“The office has split his responsibilities between Christa Seluco, the University Programing Coordinator at Capital; Jeni Cooke, the Administrative Assistant for Diversity and Inclusion, International Education, Residential and Commuter Life, and SCE; and myself to keep all of the areas functioning and thriving,” said Wagner.
When asked what the university and the SCE office in general were looking for in a replacement, Wagner said, “We are looking for a knowledgeable professional who will contribute to our team, both in the SCE and University-wide, by supporting student learning and development. We are also looking for someone innovative who is dedicated to helping create a great experience for our students during their time at Capital.”
The SCE department is planning on posting the position to the public within the next few days. Wagner says that this has been the plan since not long after Gonzalez’s resignation.
Applicants will be asked to come to campus within the next few months of the semester and will have the opportunity to meet and engage with Capital’s student body.
As with the recent presidential search, students will be encouraged to give feedback and express their opinions about the candidates. The SCE is expecting to have hired a replacement and to have that replacement started in the position by early summer.
