President Paul toured campus last Friday, Sept. 23, as part of the Purple Power initiative.
She distributed Purple Power buttons, along with cards explaining the significance of the message as follows:
Fifty years ago, Capital University was searching for ways to address the divisiveness and discrimination that riddled society. The phrase “Purple Power” emerged at Capital in the early 1970s as a symbol of our commitment to welcome and inclusivity.Today, we find ourselves in a society still struggling with the same pernicious forces. I invite you to join together, as CapFam, in a renewed commitment to embracing the beautiful differences that define humanity.Let us step forward as a model for open dialogue, learning and action – a place where everyone belongs. Let’s bring Purple Power to the world!Show your belief in our Capital commitment – wear purple on Fridays.
