New Convergent Media Center nears completion as fall semester begins

Students returning to Capital for fall semester may have noticed something different about the building being constructed next to Renner Hall; it’s almost complete!

Over the summer, theconstruction2 construction of Capital’s new Convergent Media Center (CMC) made a vast amount of structural progress. What was once an empty lot full of steel beams and forklifts is now beginning to enter the final stages of its construction.

Once it opens to students and faculty this coming spring semester, the CMC will be the new home of various educational departments and extracurricular clubs.

cmcSome of the academic courses students can expect to take in the CMC include professional writing, journalism, marketing, and art therapy, among others. Extra-curricular clubs and programs that will be moving to the new building include WXCU radio, CapTV, and the Chimes.

The new building will be a welcomed addition to Capital’s campus as it provides a variety of new and unique opportunities for the departments, clubs, and programs that will inhabit its space.

If the building progress remains on schedule, faculty will be moving into the office spaces inside the CMC around the end of fall semester and during Christmas break.
