Dining services move to takeout only, university fitness facilities close due to COVID-19

The university has announced that all campus dining will move to takeout-only services, and university fitness facilities will close due to recommendations from state and local officials.

Beginning at 9 p.m. tonight, One Main, Cap Grounds, and Main Dining Room, will be providing takeout only services, based on Ohio Governor Mike DeWine’s recent announcement about the closure of dine-in seating for Ohio bars and restaurants.

Restaurants are still allowed to offer takeout and drive-thru under the direction of the governor.

The Mezz and the Capital Center will also close immediately, as Bexley Mayor Ben Kessler recommended that local fitness centers close to prevent the spread of the virus.

“Actions are being taken to enhance public health measures aimed at slowing the spread of the virus,” Denise Russell, director of publications and marketing for the university, stated in an email to the campus community. “The university will continue to seek guidance from public health officials and re-evaluate decisions based on their guidance.”

No one on Capital’s campus has tested positive for COVID-19, per university officials. One Bexley resident has tested positive for the virus.

Students are still permitted to stay in university-sponsored housing, and dining services will keep their normal hours.
