Satire: The Zig introduces new Capital-themed specialty drink

The university’s favorite dive-bar is releasing a new drink to appeal to Capital University students.

If you’re a student at Capital University, which if you’re reading this then you probably are, then you have probably been to Leipzig Haus, more commonly known as “the Zig.”

It is pretty much the only bar within a couple of miles of the university. As a result, it is frequented by students during the semester, well, at least, it was. To try to regain its consumer base with the local university, they have decided to release a new Purple Power drink.

This is the new signature drink, served on the rocks.

This concoction of local flavors is made up of well gin, purple food coloring, a “special ingredient,” and a splash of water from the Fountains (yes, you read that right: they are putting water from the university’s famous Fountains in this new drink)

The reasoning behind this is to make the drink a tribute to its loyal Cap customers, but I cannot help but think that they have a bit of a skewed perception of the typical student. They definitely went a bit overboard with the whole straight gin and Fountain water combo—this is Capital university, not Ohio University.

What you may be asking, is this new form of poison, or, depending on how you look at it, this new gift, called? That is an excellent question, the answer to which will either scare or excite you; it is called “the purple knockout.”

“Guaranteed to knock you out purple,” the owner, Doug Griff, said. When I asked what the special ingredient was, he chuckled and said, “You wouldn’t believe me if I told you.”

I am not sure what to make of that either.

If you absolutely need a little splash of heaven, check out the Zig when bars and restaurants are allowed to reopen. Apparently they have a surprise waiting for you.
