Breaking: Two Capital students hospitalized after hit-skip

Two Capital students were seriously injured in a hit-skip Thursday night.

The two students were struck while walking the crosswalk at the South Drexel Avenue and East Main Street intersection. The incident occurred around 10:30 p.m.

The hit-skip vehicle is described as being a 2017-2021 sonic gray Honda Civic Hatchback. According to Bexley police, traffic camera footage shows the vehicle driving through the red light and striking the pedestrians in the crosswalk.

Reportedly, the driver continued on for another 50 feet before coming to a brief stop and then leaving the scene.

Capital PD’s Interim Chief of Police, Scott Kunkle, declined to provide the names of the two students at this time due to privacy reasons. According to Kunkle, they were transported to Grant Medical Center.
